My first week in Kenya!

Habari!
Well ,I have been in Kenya for almost a week now! I live 7 miles outside of Nairobi at a compound the Salvation Army has in Kenya. It’s a beautiful place to live and I love it here so far.
Here is a summary of my first week here:
Week 1:

We were given time to rest and get settled so I spent the first couple of days here shopping for things I needed in my house and getting to know the officers here! I had dinner at a THQ officers house , the first five days I was here, and experienced traditional Kenyan food which is very tasty.

Well after my days of rest , it was time to get to work. On Monday, I went to THQ to get paperwork settled and to have a tour! The new THQ here is really nice with lots of room for growth for this growing territory!

Tuesday was my first real day of work at the nursery school. The kids are very energetic and ready to learn despite the small resources we have to teach them. I am in charge of the youngest ones who are about three years old. My job is to get them used to being in school and to also start teaching them their letters and numbers! It is going to be a challenge but I am excited and ready .

On Thursday, I went to a town called Thika which is about 45 minutes outside of Nairobi to tour the Salvations Army’s school for the blind and a school for children with disabilities. It was an eye opening experience and I hope to go back again to visit the children there. The Salvation Army is doing great work all over Kenya!

Well that’s it for now! Please keep me in your prayers this coming year!
